Services
Our range of products and services have been developed specifically to meet the needs of our clients throughout the UK. We understand that the two key elements in reducing energy costs are:
- The price you pay for gas and electricity.
- The amount of energy your business consumes.
Energy Direct provides a range of energy management solutions that focus on reducing your energy consumption; while our range of procurement services ensure we can always guarantee to quote a range of the most competitive prices available.
In today’s complex and often volatile market place it pays to have experts by your side. Energy Direct operates in an open market, which means we will always present you with the best options available, ensuring we secure the best combination of price and supplier on your behalf.
To ensure your business secures the most appropriate supply arrangements, Energy Direct will:
- Assess your current supply arrangements and analyse your consumption profile.
- Prepare and issue a tender to a suitable list of energy suppliers
- Produce a report showing price comparisons, and projected savings
- Present our recommendations and finalise negotiations with your chosen supplier
If you would like us to look at your gas and electricity procurement needs in more detail then please fill in the Electricity Procurement Enquiry Form or Gas Procurement Enquiry Form and one of our consultants will contact you within 24 hours, alternatively you can contact us by telephone or email.
It is no longer safe to assume that your supplier is billing you based on the correct contracted rates and applying the correct levies and taxes. Our unique auditing services will identify any irregularities in your energy account, ensuring you don’t suffer from unnecessarily high rates.
A large majority of energy suppliers will generate your invoice(s) using estimated meter readings as they are only legally obliged to take an actual reading once every two years. Energy suppliers using estimated meter readings to calculate your consumption means that you could be significantly underpaying or overpaying on your bills. Using our very own bespoke software we are able to analyse and validate your invoices, effectively removing the stress associated with inaccurate billing. To speak to one of our consultants and find out more about this service please contact us.
Adding new energy supplies and altering existing ones can be a notoriously problematic exercise. Whether you’re installing a new service, downgrading, upgrading or removing an old service, Energy Direct can facilitate the work on your behalf.
We have successfully managed thousands of sitework projects on behalf of our clients. We work alongside you throughout the project, from ascertaining the initial requirements of the site to identifying the most appropriate supplier and ensuring successful and timely completion of the project.

Many businesses have the chance to claim exemption of up to 80% of the Levy and Energy Direct can provide assistance in this matter. We are able to help you apply for, manage and retain your exemption, safeguarding your interests and your energy costs.
Carbon Reduction Commitment – The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme is intended to improve energy efficiency across the private and public sector. All UK organisations with electricity metered half-hourly are required, by law, to participate.
Devised and overseen by the Department for Energy and Climate (DECC) and administered by the Environment Agency, the first Compliance Year started in April 2010. In April 2011, all full participants will be required to buy allowances to cover their carbon emissions. All other participants will need to submit annual returns.
Energy Direct can help your business to comply with The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme by identifying precisely what you need to do to make this new legislation work in your favour.
For more information or to discuss your requirements please contact us.Energy Surveys – You may qualify for a free on-site carbon survey which is guaranteed to identify quick and effective ways to reduce energy consumption, typically yielding a 20% cut in a business’s energy costs.
Each survey is conducted by an independent accredited consultant and produces a practical action plan tailored to your organisation’s needs. Carbon Trust surveys have helped businesses identify potential cost savings of £170m and over 1.3mt of carbon dioxide emissions since 2005.
Energy Direct will manage your survey application and liaise with The Carbon Trust in arranging the visit. For more details on potential savings, please contact us.
Energy Information Services – Our bespoke software and CRM allows us to store and manage consumption statistics, meter readings and contractual data on behalf of our clients. Regular reporting enables our clients to effectively manage their energy consumption and quickly identify potential savings. By issuing contract renewal alerts we are able to ensure our clients continue to benefit from the most beneficial contract(s) available. Our bespoke software allows us to quickly identify any irregularities in your water invoices. Depending upon your water usage and requirements, potential savings can amount to several thousand pounds.
By implementing smart metering on your sites, you will:
- Receive bills based on actual readings
- Understand your water consumption and flow patterns
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste
- Quickly identify leaks and avoid the high costs related to leakage
Smart electricity and gas meters provide accurate real time information on energy consumption. The government has introduced compulsory smart electricity and gas metering to help businesses save money and reduce their carbon emissions. Smart metering means automatic, accurate billing, and allows businesses to monitor live energy consumption and prices to help them use less power at peak times when it’s most expensive.
By April 2014 advanced metering will be mandatory for sites with an electricity profile of 5 to 8 and sites with a gas consumption of between 732 and 58,600 MWh per annum.
In addition to ensuring accurate billing and helping to reduce consumption, smart meters enable:
- Flexible tariffs that measure consumption over set periods.
- Capability for selling energy back to the supplier, which will facilitate micro generation technology (e.g. solar panels wind turbines)
- Suppliers will be able to differentiate their tariffs and services through offering alternative means of displaying energy consumption, for example through mobile telephones, the internet or via digital TV
- Improved accuracy of forecasting energy demand at different times of the day/year.
If you are interested in switching to smart metering or would like further information, please contact us.
